About 2 miles (if I remember correctly) south of the pedestrian bridge it gets shallow again. I never fished Bull in the spring but in late summer/early fall you can walk out to below the damn from the PA side and fish the sides of the channel or the PA side below the dam. There's a small "dam" about a 1/4 mile north of the pedestrian bridge. If you want to fish from shore or wet wade there are canal pathways on both sides of the river - just hike along those until you see a place to walk toward the river. You have to pay to launch - I think it was $10 or $12 per launch or you can buy an annual pass for something like $40 to $60, depending what other NJ launch locations are included in the pass. There's a boat launch (no dock) on the NJ side just south of the pedestrian bridge (drive in to the park and the access road turns left). Not sure how familiar you are with the area so here's what I know. How does one access Bull Island to fish that area? I'd like to try that area for SM bass. I know it will take many years to successfully fly fish such a challenging and diverse river and I don't want to get frustrated and relapse back to spin fishing! I hope to get a lot more days in this year through 3 seasons and I hope I have the patience to stick with fly fishing. I'm new to the DR - only fished the DR a handful of summer days targeting small/largemouth outside of Trenton, Lambertville and Bull Island. I don't mind sharing spots or info so I will try to remember to post my experiences. I'll obviously start south and work my way north trying to follow the run.

If I don't uncover local river knowledge my plan is to fish the river like the back bays and learn by trial and error. I haven't found a lot of info for fly fishing the DR for spring stripers (there's more info on back bay spring stripers). Unfortunately, I'm not much help since I haven't done it before. I'm planning to hit the spring run stripers on fly so I thought I would bump this up for anyone experienced that might have missed it.
